There are various reasons why racism exists in the world today. Some causes may be issues such as xenophobia, where someone has an actual fear of people who are different to them. Other causes can be that someone wants to feel accepted or superior to other races to fit in. A person can inflict racism on themselves because someone does not racially accept their heritage and culture. Racism has been an issue throughout all of history and past events and past context can affect how someone feels about a particular race.
The effects of racism can affect a person mentally and even physically depending on the severity. Racism throughout time has caused damage between groups and communities of people. It has caused arguments, disputes and even wars. Racism can even have physical effects such as extreme stress and early signs of heart disease.
